Sewing On Trim

It must have taken some significnat time to spin, dye, and then weave the wool for a peplos. It is sewn up the back to make a tube then pinned at the top creating a neck hole and two armholes. It can be fancied up with broaches and a string of beads. Because I didn’t actually make the fabric, it was a gift from a dear friend who adored weaving and creating patterned work. I am more of a woven band type weaver and so, I tablet wove the trim and added it to the garment. Some weavers, when doing up their warp, will add the tablets to the warp and create the trim pattern as they go along.
